There’s a magical place where you can watch an original Christmas musical, take a picture with Santa, eat gingerbread cookies, drink “elf-made” hot chocolate, write a letter to Santa, play in a snow blizzard, top it off by roasting ‘smores at a ‘smores pit and more; and it’s all tucked away in Kaimuki.
From December 1st through December 23rd, Mo’olelo Performing Arts Studios will produce their 2nd Annual Christmas Spectacular event from 5pm – 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 4pm – 9pm on Sundays at the Dr. Richard T. Mamiya Theatre on the campus of St. Louis School.
The Year Christmas Was Almost Cancelled
The event features the original holiday musical “The Year Christmas Was Almost Cancelled”, a heartwarming story featuring Santa, his wife and his faithful elves as they deal with the fallout of having to cancel Christmas for a year. The musical focuses on the true importance of the season and showcases a small, tight-knit cast including Broadway performer Matthew Pedersen as the jolly man in the red suit. “The Year Christmas Was Almost Cancelled” plays Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm and Sundays at 6pm.
The Blizzard Blast!
Outside the theatre in the Keoho Plaza courtyard, before and after the performances of the holiday musical, there is a free snow show “The Blizzard Blast!” where you will experience music, lights, and a snow blizzard right in the heart of Honolulu! That’s right! Twice a night, for a miraculous five minutes, the plaza turns into a winter wonderland! The Blizzard Blast! happens on Friday and Saturday nights at 6:15pm and 8:15pm and on Sundays at 5:15pm and 7:15pm – and it’s free to the public!
The Santa Sphere
Not only is the jolly man featured in the main performance, but you can also take your individual or family portraits with the man himself at The Santa Photo Zone. For a small fee, you can get your downloaded picture with Santa sent to your email so you can use it any way you want! Across the way is The Elf Mail Express, where you can write a letter to Santa and mail it straight to the North Pole!
